their differences and showing support to the victims. To see
such a huge following,all coming together,united in sympathy
and passion,really is something that will inspire anyone.
Many teenagers whose parents were racists have learnt from
their parent's mistakes. They are looking right through skin,and
starting to make friends with other teenagers from different
races,truly showing colourblindness,puzzling so many out
there as to how different they are as compared to their parents.
Can you imagine what will happen if children of racists
thankfully fail to inherit the disease of racism from their
parents? How much of a better world will this one become?
Generation after generation,as the the number of racists drop,a
point will come where there will be no more racism in this
world.A couple where the husband is African American,and the
wife is Caucasian will not be judged anymore! It will seem so
normal,the friends who attended their wedding would have
mingled around without any inhibitations,and a room full of
people from different races,mingling around so harmoniously
is something we all wish to see.
A recent finding in the field of quantum physics shows that
reality is indeed an illusion. To make a change in reality is just
as easy as to start a ripple in a pool of water. The bigger the
change is to be made,the more energy is needed. The power
of the human mind is very much related to this idea. How come
massive changes are yet to happen? Human conciousness is
not at a very high level at this point. However,come December
21st 2012,astronomy shows that a specific celestial alignment
will cause a stunning leap in human conciousness. Huge
changes will be made in a heartbeat in the near future.We are
aware that the world is what we make of it. I,a teenager
myself,will see the day where the world stands as one,with love
in our hearts as we work towards the eternal happiness we
enjoy,not individually,but as one. I promise.
Irrelevant to this essay,there is something else I would like to
share. Learning Physics has really made me start thinking.
There is so much to this earth that we do not know,what more
the universe. The world is heading towards an energy crysis.
We have to start using renewable energy as soon a possible to
try and save mother nature. I was recently taught that,the
principle of conservation of energy states that energy cannot be
destroyed,it can only be changed from one form to another. And
since,I've been thinking.There are many types of energy.
Wind,light,sound,potential,kinetic,electric are among different
types of energy. Wind and light energy have been succesfully
harnessed and and methods of converting it to electrical
energy have been discovered. But what about sound energy?
Aren't we all so abundant with it? Everywhere you go,you hear
noise. Car engines,construction sites,a busy road. No machine
is 100% efficient. The output energy is always less than the
input. Lets say a machine has an output energy percentage of
20%, the remaining 80% is converted to heat and sound
energy. Sound travels in the form of waves. Waves are defined
as disturbances that carry energy from one point to another
without transferring matter. Therefore,If we can place high
tension sheets that vibrate at the slightest touch,we can use
the sounds energy to start moving these sheets. Sound energy
here,has been converted to kinetic energy. When these sheets
move,we can create a mechanism where a magnetic flux is cut.
Based on the principle of electromagnetic induction,when a

Electromotive force,or E.M.F,is the force that propells current
through a circuit. Therefore,a current is produced. This maybe

In young adults, up to 20% of all
cases of sudden death are due to
myocarditis.
Myocarditis caused by infections SHALL be avoided by practicing good hygiene,
especially washing your hands often. Diphtheria myocarditis can be prevented
by diphtheria immunization, and HIV can be prevented by following safe
practices and avoiding intravenous drug use. Myocarditis caused by insect-
borne Chagas' disease can be prevented by using effective insecticides in Latin
American countries where the illness is common.
Although myocarditis is unpredictable , the measures BELOW may help
prevention
* Take extra measures to avoid infections, and obtain appropriate treatment for
infections.
* Limit alcohol consumption to only one or two drinks a day,
* Maintain current immunizations against diphtheria, tetanus, measles, rubella,
and polio.
* Avoid anything that may cause the abnormal heart to work too hard, including
salt and vigorous exercise.
* Always use latex condoms during sexual activity.
* Have sex with only one partner, who has sex only with you.

Causes of Myocarditis
Many cases of myocarditis have no identifiable cause or idiopathic myocarditis
which falls into one of three categories: infectious, toxic, or immune-mediated.

Other causes of myocarditis may include:

Symptoms
There may be no symptoms. Symptoms may be similar to the flu. If symptoms
occur, they may include:
Abnormal heartbeat, Chest pain that may resemble a heart attack, Fatigue, Fever
and other signs of infection including headache, muscle aches, sore throat,
diarrhea, or rashes, Joint pain or swelling, Leg swelling, Shortness of breath,

Signs and tests
A physical examination may show no abnormalities, or may reveal the following:
Abnormal heartbeat or heart sounds (murmurs, extra heart sounds)
Fever, Fluid in the lungs, Rapid heartbeat (tachycardia), Swelling (edema) in the
legs
Tests used to diagnosis myocarditis include:
Blood cultures for infection
Blood tests for antibodies against the heart muscle and the body itself
Chest x-ray
Electrocardiogram (ECG)
Heart muscle biopsy (endomyocardial biopsy)
Red blood cell count
Ultrasound of the heart (echocardiogram)
White blood cell count
Treatment
Treatment is aimed at the cause of the problem, and may involve:
Antibiotics
Anti-inflammatory medicines to reduce swelling
Diuretics to remove excess water from the body ,Low-salt diet &Reduced activity
If the heart muscle is very weak, your health care provider will prescribe
medicines to treat heart failure. Abnormal heart rhythms may require the use of
additional medications, a pacemaker, or an implantable cardioverter-
defibrillator. If a blood clot is in the heart chamber, you will also receive blood
thinning medicine.
Expectations (prognosis)
How well you do depends on the cause of the problem and your overall health.
The outlook varies. Some people may recover completely. Others may have
permanent heart failure.

Promptly treating conditions that cause myocarditis may reduce the risk.
Myocarditis is inflammation of heart muscle (myocardium).
Myocarditis is most often due to infection by common viruses, such as
parvovirus B19, less commonly nonviral pathogens such as Borrelia burgdorferi
(Lyme disease) or Trypanosoma cruzi, or as a hypersensitivity response to
drugs.
The definition of myocarditis varies, but the central feature is an infection of the
heart, with an inflammatory infiltrate, and damage to the heart muscle, without
the blockage of coronary arteries that define a heart attack (myocardial infarction)
or other common noninfectious causes.Myocarditis may or may not include
death (necrosis) of heart tissue. It may include dilated cardiomyopathy.
Myocarditis is often an autoimmune reaction. Streptococcal M protein and
coxsackievirus B have regions (epitopes) that are immunologically similar to
cardiac myosin. After the virus is gone, the immune system may attack cardiac
myosin.
Because a definitive diagnosis requires a heart biopsy, which doctors are
reluctant to do because they are invasive, statistics on the incidence of
myocarditis vary widely.
The consequences of myocarditis thus also vary widely. It can cause a mild
disease without any symptoms that resolves itself, or it may cause chest pain,
heart failure, or sudden death. An acute myocardial infarction-like syndrome with
normal coronary arteries has a good prognosis. Heart failure, even with dilated
left ventricle, may have a good prognosis. Ventricular arrhythmias and high-
degree heart block have a poor prognosis. Loss of right ventricular function is a
strong predictor of death
The signs and symptoms associated with myocarditis are varied, and relate
either to the actual inflammation of the myocardium, or the weakness of the
heart muscle that is secondary to the inflammation. Signs and symptoms of
myocarditis include:
* Chest pain (often described as "stabbing" in character)
* Congestive heart failure (leading to edema, breathlessness and hepatic
congestion)
* Palpitations (due to arrhythmias)
* Sudden death (in young adults, myocarditis causes up to 20% of all cases of
sudden death)
* Fever (especially when infectious, e.g. in rheumatic fever)
* Symptoms in infants and toddlers tend to be more nonspecific, with
generalized malaise, poor appetite, abdominal pain, and/or chronic cough. Later
stages of the illness will present with respiratory symptoms with increased work
of breathing, and is often mistaken for asthma.
Since myocarditis is often due to a viral illness, many patients give a history of
symptoms consistent with a recent viral infection, including fever, rash, diarrhea,
joint pains, and easy fatigueability.
Myocarditis is often associated with pericarditis, and many patients present with
signs and symptoms that suggest concurrent myocarditis and pericarditis.
A large number of causes of myocarditis have been identified, but often a cause
cannot be found. In Europe and North America, viruses are common culprits.
Worldwide, however, the most common cause is Chagas' disease, an illness
endemic to Central and South America that is due to infection by the protozoan
Trypanosoma cruzi]

cytomegalovirus, human herpesvirus 6 and possibly hepatitis C)

schistosoma, Taenia solium, Trichinella spiralis, visceral larva migrans, and
Wuchereria bancrofti)
Bacterial myocarditis is rare in patients without immunodeficiency.

* Drugs (ethanol, anthracyclines and some other forms of chemotherapy, and
antipsychotics, e.g. clozapine, also some designer drugs such as mephedrone)
Immunologic
* Allergic (acetazolamide, amitriptyline)
* Rejection after a heart transplant
* Autoantigens (scleroderma, systemic lupus erythematosis, sarcoidosis,
systemic vasculitis such as Churg-Strauss syndrome, and Wegener's
granulomatosis)
* Toxins (arsenic, toxic shock syndrome toxin, carbon monoxide, or snake
venom)
* Heavy metals (copper or iron)
Physical agents
* Electric shock, hyperpyrexia, and radiation
Diagnosis
Endomyocardial biopsy specimen with extensive eosinophilic infiltrate involving
the endocardium and myocardium (hematoxylin and eosin stain)
Myocarditis refers to an underlying process that causes inflammation and injury
of the heart. It does not refer to inflammation of the heart as a consequence of
some other insult. Many secondary causes, such as a heart attack, can lead to
inflammation of the myocardium and therefore the diagnosis of myocarditis
cannot be made by evidence of inflammation of the myocardium alone.
Myocardial inflammation can be suspected on the basis of electrocardiographic
(ECG) results, elevated C-reactive protein (CRP) and/or Erythrocyte
sedimentation rate (ESR) and increased IgM (serology) against viruses known
to affect the myocardium. Markers of myocardial damage (troponin or creatine
kinase cardiac isoenzymes) are elevated.
The ECG findings most commonly seen in myocarditis are diffuse T wave
inversions; saddle-shaped ST-segment elevations may be present (these are
also seen in pericarditis).
The gold standard is still biopsy of the myocardium, generally done in the setting
of angiography. A small tissue sample of the endocardium and myocardium is
taken, and investigated by a pathologist by light microscopy and—if necessary—
immunochemistry and special staining methods. Histopathological features are
myocardial interstitium with abundant edema and inflammatory infiltrate, rich in
lymphocytes and macrophages. Focal destruction of myocytes explains the
myocardial pump failure.
Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (cMRI or CMR) has been shown to be very
useful in diagnosing myocarditis by visualizing markers for inflammation of the
myocardium.Recently, consensus criteria for the diagnosis of myocarditis by
CMR have been published
Treatment
As most viral infections cannot be treated with directed therapy, symptomatic
treatment is the only form of therapy for those forms of myocarditis.In the acute
phase, supportive therapy, including bed rest, is indicated. For symptomatic
patients, digoxin and diuretics provide clinical improvement. For patients with
moderate to severe dysfunction, cardiac function can be supported by use of
inotropes such as Milrinone in the acute phase, followed by oral therapy with
ACE inhibitors (Captopril, Lisinopril) when tolerated. People who do not respond
to conventional therapy are candidates for bridge therapy with left ventricular
assist devices. Heart transplantation is reserved for patients who fail to improve
with conventional therapy.
In several small case series and randomized control trials, systemic
corticosteroids have shown to have beneficial effects in patients with proven
myocarditis.However, data on the usefulness of corticosteroids should be
interpreted with caution, since 58% of adults recover spontaneously, while most
studies on children and infants lack control groups.
Epidemiology
The exact incidence of myocarditis is unknown. However, in series of routine
autopsies, 1–9% of all patients had evidence of myocardial inflammation. In
young adults, up to 20% of all cases of sudden death are due to myocarditis.

A sad ending to a 55feet long python snake killed after being
crushed by a road building excavator at 9.28 am on the 4th of
August 2008 at Lepar Banjir, Paloh Hinai, Pahang, Malaysia
